Staying Safe On The Way Home

Walking home should be just that. If you’re going to stay and play in the school yard after school, go to a friend’s house or go somewhere to play, always check in with your parents first.

 1. If you are being bullied, tell an adult you trust. They can help arrange for you to walk with a group of students, as well as help you address the problem.
 2. Kids who bully sometimes choose the people they bully based on physical appearance. When you walk home, walk tall, head up with a purpose in your walk. Walk straight home and avoid stopping to play.
 3. If you are bullied, go to a safe house, if possible, or back to school. Don’t argue or try to fight those who are bullying you. When you are safe, tell someone at home or at school. Don’t hide the bullying. You have the right to walk home from school safely.
