Good Girl, Bad Girl? conference - An examination of the pressing issues faced by girls today

This conference examined the many issues that affect young girls today, including relational violence, hyper-sexualization, social aggression and girl fighting, sexual harassment & exploitation, eating disorders and depression.

Cyber-safety Conference

Date:  Tuesday, April 8th, 2008
Location:  Spirale Banquet Hall, Toronto

Participants spent a day examining the growing concern of many educators and parents today - cyber-safety.  They heard from leading experts in the area and learned about keeping youth safe on the Internet.

Topics included:

11th Annual Safe Schools Conference

Date:  Thursday, February 21st, 2008
Location:  Doubletree International Plaza Hotel, Toronto Airport

The 11th Annual Safe Schools Conference was once again a great success, with over 750 in attendance from all over Canada.  Attendees participated in workshops covering a wide variety of safe schools topics including to cultural proficiency, Bill 212, At-Risk Behaviour & Mental Health and French sessions.

Safe Schools Institute Part 1 - Eastern Ontario

Date:  Tuesday, November 27, 2007 (pm) and Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Location:  Kemptville College, Kemptville

Due to a growing demand from educators and administrators from Ontario’s eastern boards of education, the Canadian Safe School Network was pleased to offered the Safe School Institute Part 1 in Kemptville.

10th Annual Safe School Conference

Date: Thursday, February 22, 2007
Location: Doubletree International Plaza Hotel, Toronto Airport

Details:
Over 650 delegated from across the country joined us at the Safe Schools 2007 Conference, to hear from leaders in their fields on various issues relating to safe schools and youth violence.

Attendees heard from Richard Filion, Director General of Dawson College, and got a first-hand account of the tragic shooting rampage at Dawson College earlier this year. The Hon. Kathleen Wynne also addressed delegates with an update of the Government of Ontario’s initiatives in the area of safe schools.
