Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Canadian Safe School Network?
The Canadian Safe School Network (CSSN) is a national, registered charitable organization dedicated to reducing youth violence and making our schools and communities safer. Founded in 1997, CSSN grew out of the Ontario Safe School Task Force.

Where are you located?
We are located in Toronto, Ontario. However, with our network of experts and professionals, our services expand across the country.

How does the organization raise funds?
Funds are raised in Canada through safe school project delivery, special events and corporate and individual donor programs. CSSN does not receive on-going government funding.

How are the funds spent?
Thanks to our generous donors, CSSN is able to develop safe school resources, provide assemblies for schools, carry out research, develop and deliver conferences for educators, provide information to the media and the public and raise awareness about youth safety and violence issues.

What is the amount you spend for charitable purposes?
Revenue Canada requires that 80% of every dollar raised through receiptable donations be spent for charitable purposes. We have directed 100% of our receiptable revenues to the support the advancement of youth violence research, education, prevention and intervention.
